The new year is here! And while this is definitely, finally, for sure going to be the year you learn guitar, visit Iceland, write a novel, and give up caffeine, it might not hurt to add these resolutions for improving your organization’s Twitter strategy to your list. You know, just in case that whole guitar playing/traveling/writing/caffeine thing doesn’t pan out.
Resolution #1: Give your Twitter profile a makeover
If you haven’t done it in a while, update your profile with a new header photo, profile photo, bio, and pinned Tweet. Even if your information is current, it never hurts to change things up once in a while to keep your profile fresh.
Resolution #2: Tweet on a regular basis
Just like working out once a month won’t help you reach your 2019 fitness goals, infrequent Tweeting is unlikely to get the engagement you’re looking for. The more often you Tweet, the more likely your audience will see and engage with your content. This will also give you the chance to experiment with images, hashtags, and messaging to see what resonates with your audience. Set a goal for frequency, and then increase the amount you post over time until you’re hitting your target on a daily basis.
Resolution #3: Focus on your personas
If your Tweets feel a little generic, now is the time to refocus on your target audience. Look at your buyer personas and make sure they still reflect your actual consumers. If so, take your personas and make sure every Tweet you send focuses on that audience. Not only will the information be more relevant and engaging to your followers, but the focus will actually make it easier to find things to Tweet about.
Resolution #4: Get social with event targeting
Attending a major event like Opening Day or Coachella is a resolution staple. Your brand can make a similar resolution by incorporating event targeting into your Twitter strategy. It lets you target specific events that align with your audience so you can build an ad campaign that reaches people interested in the event, helping your brand become a part of the conversation.
Resolution #5: Experiment with new ad types
If you’ve been advertising on Twitter for a while, you’re might still be executing the same strategy you started with. However, there are a wide variety of ways to spread your message on Twitter. Make 2019 the year you delve into video advertising, create mobile app campaigns, or reach new followers through behavior targeting.
